Cocktail tasting. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.
On a recent trip to Lake Tahoe I had the privilege of spending some time with Tam, mixologist extraordinaire for The Resort at Squaw Creek. She shook up incredible concoctions, spilling secrets of some of the resort’s most popular drinks – and I was taking notes. I was fascinated by the fact that she smokes ice cubes with everything from hickory smoke to cigar smoke to add a subtle smoky flavor to some of her drinks. She’s inspired by fresh ingredients and unique, yet familiar flavor combinations, creating delicious drinks that are hard to put down.
The Resort at Squaw Creeks’ signature drink, the Cosmomosa, was created in celebration of their 25th anniversary. It’s reminiscent of a drink popular at the resort’s open, but with a Tam twist. Light and refreshing, it’s the perfect summer cocktail. I smuggled out the recipe so that you can try it at home. Enjoy!
Squaw Creek Cosmomosa Cocktail
1 1/2 shots of Hangar 1 Mandarin Vodka
1/2 fresh squeezed lime juice
1 sliced, muddled Mandarin orange
1 oz of cranberry juice
Float a sliced mandarin on top and pour prosecco over it.
Garnish with an edible flower.
